ABOUT PAM:
Known as Pam Bassett in the voice over industry, Pam was an announcer at several DC area Christian radio stations in the 80’s and 90’s. Her voice was MCI’s official worldwide English operator voice in the 90’s through its acquisition by Verizon in 2006 on such products as Calling Cards (including prepaid), 1-800-COLLECT, Directory Assistance, voice mail (“The Neighborhood By MCI”) and more. Since 2004 she has recorded and edited a variety of scripts for clients from her home studio. Her voice over website is PamBassett.com and you can also see/hear some of her voice over/video work on her YouTube channel at here. You can also hear her recorded greeting when you call the PeaceLaw office at 301.762.7877.
In a “hard-to-believe-it’s-true story”, before attending college, Pam worked a year as a receptionist at the U.S. Department of Justice in the Antitrust Division. Section Chief Gerald A. Connell and others in the Division were successful several years later in their blockbuster antitrust case against AT&T which led Judge Harold Greene to to oversee the breakup of AT&T’s monopoly which provided a way for MCI to effectively compete against AT&T (and eventually give Pam a job in 1993, less than ten years after the landmark breakup).
(So, if you’ve got a phone, you’ve got a lawyer and an ‘operator’. 😉)
Outside of media jobs, Pam’s jobs developed her administrative skills, including working in the 401(k) area in the Benefits Department (corporate office) of Lockheed Martin (formerly Martin Marietta). Another one of those jobs, before the birth of their daughter, included working sporadically with her husband Steve (of PeaceLaw) on personal injury cases.
Later she worked on her own PI (personal injury) case so she understands first hand some of the challenges in dealing with the medical and legal angles in treating injuries as well as the personal trauma of attempting to get back to “normal”.
Her experience in understanding specific family dynamics led to an interest in counseling before she was married and which gives her insight in working with clients of PeaceLaw.
Additionally, she has attended court cases with Steve and testified twice as a witness in a criminal trial. (She was the victim of a crime by an intruder over thirty years ago in which she experienced the hand of God deliver her from her attacker. Unfortunately, the attacker was never caught.)
One of Pam’s interests is medical advocacy which is helpful to those with personal injury cases. She enjoys human interest stories, genealogy/DNA testing, meeting new people, “Adventures in Odyssey”, CAVA salads, sweet tea, good puns, and comics in addition to laughter during family game nights, shopping or watching favorite shows with their daughter and talk time with Steve over CAVA and Chipotle meals enjoyed in their car on sunny days. For five years she served as a liaison between the City of Gaithersburg’s police department and her community as a Neighborhood Watch Coordinator.
Pam has received Conflict Coaching and Mediation training from Ambassadors of Reconciliation.
She looks forward to serving clients through PeaceLaw and through her voice over entity, PB’s VoxFlavors. (You can see and hear 😉 some of her work here.)
PRONUNCIATION OF MARRIED NAME ~ Plaisted [Play-sted] and as Pam says all the time, “like you’d rather play instead” 😉.
